Captain John Johnson was an "uncommon man" because he devoted his life to the benefit of the Massachusetts Bay Colony and the town of Roxbury. Johnson was about forty years old when he and his family immigrated to America aboard the Winthrop Fleet in 1630

All but seven years between 1877 and 1899 are covered in this wonderful collection that describes nineteenth-century life in Edwards (St. Lawrence County), New York. This collection contains a wealth of genealogical information including births, marriages and deaths. It is clear from the diaries that the Browns had significant household and farm responsibilities but found time to visit and receive friends and relatives and to keep these informative diaries.
