Die 1965 von Ernst und Renate Grumach begrundete Quellenedition verfolgt das Anliegen, die Begegnungen und Gesprache Goethes philologisch gesichert und in moglichster Vollstandigkeit zu sammeln und zu publizieren. Bisher erschienen sind die Bande I bis VI (1749-1808), Band VIII (1811/12) sowie Band XIV (1823/24). In Vorbereitung ist Band VII (1809/10).
