This work is drawn from the results of a five-year research programme (the NGM Project) that combined the insights and perspectives of business and academia in the field of manufacturing. This partnership gave rise to the NGM paradigm that defines manufacturing practices. The book offers a framework for applying the operational strategies, product development techniques, metrics and knowledge management approaches that lead to manufacturing excellence. It includes examples from the 15 participating global firms such as Chrysler and Caterpillar.
