Born in 1925. Prep school, The Old Ride, followed by Malvern College. Volunteered in 1943 and was sent on an Army Engineering Short Course at Cambridge (6 months), then OCTU for Sappers at Newark. Commissioned 1945, posted to India and joined the Bengal Sappers and Miners and rose to Capt. R.I.E. Returned in 1948 to join my father farming at Upavon. Served on Wiltshire County Council 1960 - 1964, Upavon Parish Council for many years.
