Cutting and shredding paper and other media, Austrian contemporary artist Monika Fioreschy reconstitutes these materials as large-scale collages, reassembling them strip-by-strip so that the end result is something completely new. While the strict regularity of the collages seduces viewers to a line-by-line reading, Fioreschy confounds any conventional interpretation by introducing frequent interruptions in the form of folds, gaps, overpasted paper, and changes of color.
