This volume brings together the first six towns of the 'Irish Historic Towns Atlas' series, previously published as individual fascicles. These towns - Kildare, Carrickfergus, Bandon, Kells, Mullingar and Athlone - illustrate characteristic periods of town formation in Ireland.
