Harlesden Chessington was born in 1850 in the "Old Sixth Ward" in New York City to Irish immigrants Paddy and Shannon Chessington. It was a god-awful existence filled with disease, pollution and violence. What held his sanity intact was his show and his friends. He had built something special and he would not let anyone take that from him.
