What is found in history books or movies is NOT the real story of the ethnic Sicilians. Italy did not treat Sicilians as equals. You could find that there were many foreign occupants of Sicily who spent hundreds of years yet no written words exist of much of their history because written language was discouraged officially. The Church ran the schools where prayer and religious history was memorized. So this is a Sicilian journey.
