This ethnography gives voice to the experiences of Guatemalan women immigrants in the inner-city areas of Los Angeles. As recent, mostly undocumented, immigrants and refugess, these women are rarely presented to the public ear. Kohpahl traces the social and familial power relationships that play a role in these women's decisions to emigrate as well as their experiences of political persecution in Guatemala.
