The Kibrya-Olbasa region, in the uplands of southwest Anatolia, was home to a mixture of peoples - Kabalians, Milyans, Pisidians and others - while the city of Kibrya spoke four languages: Lydian, Solymian, Pisidian and Greek. On this rich substratum of indigenous elements the dominant cultures of the Hellenistic kingdoms and the Roman empire were overlaid, and the inscriptions of the area well display the processes of Hellenization and Romanization.
