Traditional history books omit the driving forces which govern historical events. Hence, they promote disinformation. Existing histories are written by the victors, not the vanquished. More often than not, they are written to serve the propaganda or policy needs of a ruler, a country, an empire, an ethnic group or the dominant Church. This is rampant in Europe and has spread to the USA.
