Distributed artificial intelligence (DAI) is a subfield of artificial intelligence concerned with distributing and co-ordinating knowledge and actions in multiple agent environments. This work provides an introduction to the area, as well as a repository for current research in the field. The editors detail strategies for developing software which is used in the building, and experimenting with, distributed artificial intelligence systems.
