Geschichte Das Virus der Lymphocytaren Choriomeningitis (LCM) wurde im Jahre 1934 in den USA von CH. ARMSTRONG und R. D. LILLIE zufallig gefunden, als sie uber die St. Louis-Enzephalitis arbeiteten und sich bemuhten, von dem Organ material einer Frau ausgehend, den Erreger in Affen-Passagen fortzufuhren. Das neu gefundene, mit dem St. Louis-Virus nicht identische Virus fuhrte bei Mausen nach intracerebraler Injektion zu charakteristischen Krankheitszeichen und einer lymphocytaren Infiltration der Meningen und der Plexus chorioidei. - E.
