The DEAF covers the entire vocabulary (including regional elements from Anglo-Norman to Franco-Italian) found in Ancient French texts from the earliest documents to the mid-14th century, listing all meanings and situating the material etymologically and historically in terms both of the development of the vocabulary of French and the development of the Romance languages in general.
