After the death of Hermann Langerbeck, the Patristic Commission of the Academies of Science entrusted Heinrich Dorrie and the "Forschungsstelle Gregor von Nyssa" set up by him at the University of Munster, West Germany, with the edition of the second part of the sermons of Gregory of Nyssa. Because of the size of the corpus, it was decided to split into two the single volume (X) of the Opera Gregorii Nysseni in which it was previously planned to publish these texts.
