This is the fourth and last volume of parabiblical texts from Qumran Cave 4 and reveals once again the interest in biblical themes characteristic of Second Temple period Judaism, exhibited in many of the Qumran compositions. It is devoted to a small group of texts showing the rewriting, in different ways, of two biblical prophetic books: Jeremiah and Ezekiel. Because of their fragmentary nature it is not clear how many different compositions are reflected by the preserved fragments, but there are at least five manuscripts of one composition of Pseudo-Ezekiel, and seven manuscripts of two...

This book contains papers presented at a symposium on "Reworking the Bible at Qumran" convened in 2002 by the Institute of Advanced Studies and the Orion Center for the Study of the Dead Sea Scrolls and Associated Literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Each essay also carries a detailed bibliography for the respective country. Biographies of all the major scholars active in the field are briefly given as well. This book thereby exhaustively surveys past and present Qumran research, outlining its particular development in various...

Trafficking in human beings has become a major international concern in the last two decades. Trafficking has been subjected to intense political debate and ambitious legal regulation on international, regional and national levels. Although much has been done to eradicate trafficking and to protect the victims, an increasing number of critical voices are emerging: the efforts to deal with human trafficking have proved to be more ineffective than anticipated. This book seeks explanations to why anti-trafficking strategies and activities appear to be so futile, and what should be done better...

Dead Sea Scrolls Handbook presents Hebrew and Aramaic transcriptions of approximately 450 non-biblical texts from Qumran, arranged according to the sequential number of the composition and the Qumran Cave. Thus, the texts are arranged as follows: 1Q14, 1QpHab, 1Q15, 1Q16, 1Q17, and so forth. This arrangement provides straightforward access to the texts in a single volume and facilitates usage of the Handbook. The Handbook's texts, derived from the works of competent and accomplished Qumran scholars, represent significant contributions to Qumran studies.
