Over the last three decades there have been important advances in the implementation of neonatal screening programs and analytical techniques for congenital diseases in different parts of the world, including the Asian Pacific area. In the Second Asian Pacific Regional Meeting of the International Society for Neonatal Screening held in Hong Kong in November 1995, leading medical scientists in the field presented exceedingly useful and interesting results of their work.
