I am a devout Roman Catholic. There are at least 21 different sects of Catholicism which claim a union with the Pope. This means that they accept the Pope as the final authority as Christ's representative on Earth. Roman Catholics comprise about 1.2 billion people. I was baptized as an infant, raised in a Catholic home, pray daily and will die with the Last Rites. It has been a good sacramental life filled with the joy of knowing my savior (Jesus) and the promise of spending an eternity with our loving creator. I don't apologize for my faith and I do not judge other people's status with God....

We have become a nation of takers. There are more freeloaders than producers. We are by default trying to redistribute the wealth of producers. We should each, take responsibility for ourselves. Unless we start doing what each of us can do; we will simply bankrupt the entire culture financially and morally, and somebody will take over and tap the one last resource that we will have neglected. The final solution to our problems will be universal slave labor. This will ultimately be the result of our laziness. Of course most of us will be comfortable in our denial until the bitter end. At first...

This is an attempt to bust myths. There is a myth that we have no control of our personal happiness. The myth is that we are subject to the forces around us much like a stick in the tidal currents. We cannot control other people and things; and so we falsely believe that our personal happiness is just a matter of good fortune. So we falsely believe that some people are fortunate and have reasonably happy live and others are just destined to be miserable. Of course these beliefs are absolutely false. There are at least two strategies which will serve us well in our pursuit of happiness. The...

I have written over 36 Amazon.com kindle books in the last 20 months. I have fought with writer's block intermittently. Most recently I was stuck for almost a month trying to write a book about how to be happy. Writer's block has caused some people to actually quit their career as a writer. It is something which must be overcome sooner or later or you will become a washed up writer and a failure. Looking back on my personal struggles I have some helpful observations and tricks to beating the phenomena. This is my story.

What is an Extraordinary Eucharistic Visitor? An Extraordinary Eucharistic Visitor is a lay minister who serves a unique ministry in the Roman Catholic Church. We are lay ministers whom are trained and commissioned to take the real presence of Jesus our savior to the homebound and the sick. In accordance with the guidelines and laws of the Roman Catholic Church; the Extraordinary Eucharistic Visitor takes custody of the Holy Sacrament. He or she then directly travels to provide it to the homebound and sick faithful, who cannot attend the sacrament in the usual manner in the parish community....

Kayaking at night has its rewards and hazards. I have noticed that when you master a sport; eventually you want to challenge yourself more. Sooner or later you end up doing it at night. This has happened with me for many years in many areas of my life. For example, I have been: scuba diving, flying, hiking and kayaking in the dark. Low, visibility takes a sport and turns it into an extremely isolating and yet empowering experience. My life and joy for living, are in only my hands. I must make peace with God, silence my personal fears and then embrace life to its fullest. This is the pleasure...

Perhaps thousands of beginning writers every year get discouraged and never write or publish their first book. I know that I thought about writing my first book for 20 years. I even bought a TRS 80 from Radio Shack in an attempt to write a book in the 1990's. Having no technical computer ability I could barely get the green screen turned on. Eventually I sold the computer for a VW Rabbit. Still I dreamed of writing for a living. In 2012 I read that Amazon.com had ways to self-publish e-books, paperbacks and audiobooks. They would make them available in more than 100 countries via the internet...

For a modern culture that does not highly value life; it is paradoxical that we don't want to talk about the dying process or the possibility of an afterlife. Catholics sometime suffer from the same hesitation about talking about death. Yet the Roman Catholic religion and culture are a constant preparation for that moment when we must trust Jesus for our salvation. All the rituals and sacraments, prepare our minds and hearts for that thing from which there is no escape.

From my earliest days, my father taught me to survive in multiple scenarios. He taught me to survive in three environments. They were: an aircraft crash in the mountains, a ship wreck, and being lost in the forest. In each scenario he taught me that a person needed to have seven types of tools in order to survive. Over the decades I have added an 8th type of tool. While the category of "communications" is not critical for life support, it can facilitate escape from a difficult situation. Recent advancement in technology, make communications with rescue personnel very possible. Overview There...
