This volume contains the Proceedings of the Eighth GAMM Conference on Numerical Methods in Fluid Mechanics, held in Delft, The Netherlands, September 27-29, 1989, at Delft University of Technology. This international conference is organized bi-annually at various locations in Europe by the Committee on Numerical Methods in Fluid Dynamics of the Gesellschaft fiir Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, chaired at present by W.
