Evidence-based practice (EBP) is one of the driving forces in current healthcare practice. Occupational therapists recognise the need for research and for an evidence-based approach to interventions, but can need guidance on how to do this. This book aims to make evidence-based practice accessible and relevant to occupational therapists using examples from therapy practice. British and American anti-slavery societies were established in the 1820s and 1830s and from an early date included women campaigners. Typical of female abolitionists, the Weston sisters wrote, collected monies and signatures for petitions but rarely spoke in public or advocated a peculiarly feminist cause. This study uncovers their work in America, Britain and France, their connections and campaigns and their contribution both to the anti-slavery movement and to the forging of an Anglo-American democratic alliance.
