Modern software tools like Maple have the potential to alter radically the way mathematics is taught, learned, and done. Bringing such tools into the classroom during lectures, assignments, and examinations means that new ways oflooking at mathematics can becomepermanent fixtures ofthe curriculum. The Maple Summer Workshop and Symposium, MSWS '94, reflects the growing commu nity of Maple users around the world. This volume contains the contributed papers. A careful inspection of author affiliations will reveal that they come from North America, Europe, and Australia.
