This book is a documentation of a one day workshop covering searches in the Beilstein database on the host STN. Search possibilities in all main fields are described by examples; the answers are also given and commented. Using this manual the reader can easily convert his own problem and formulate it correctly for the host STN. This manual is meant to be one of the first steps in the renaissance of the Beilstein Handbook of Organic Chemistry and its computer-readable counterparts, the Beilstein Databases of factual and structural data. The enormous work of the staff of the Beilstein Institute has produced, for over 100 years, a very valuable and unique scientific resource.
