Despite recent debates, the post-colonial literary canon remains comprised of privileged national and regional texts. The English-language literatures of Africa, India, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and the Caribbean clearly emerged from an earlier model of 'Commonwealth literature'.
