This is a collection of articles written by mathematicians and physicists, designed to describe the state of the art in climate models with stochastic input. Mathematicians will benefit from a survey of simple models, while physicists will encounter mathematically relevant techniques at work.

This volume contains refereed research or review papers presented at the 6th Seminar on Stochastic Processes, Random Fields and Applications, which took place at the Centro Stefano Franscini (Monte Verita) in Ascona, Switzerland, in May 2008. The seminar focused mainly on stochastic partial differential equations, especially large deviations and control problems, on infinite dimensional analysis, particle systems and financial engineering, especially energy markets and climate models.
The book will be a valuable resource for researchers in stochastic analysis and professionals interested...

These proceedings represent the current state of research on the topics 'boundary theory' and 'spectral and probability theory' of random walks on infinite graphs. They are the result of the two workshops held in Styria (Graz and St. Kathrein am Offenegg, Austria) between June 29th and July 5th, 2009. Many of the participants joined both meetings. Even though the perspectives range from very different fields of mathematics, they all contribute with important results to the same wonderful topic from structure theory, which, by extending a quotation of Laurent Saloff-Coste, could be described...

During the week of October 23-27,1989, Northwestern University hosted an international conference on the theme "Diffusion Processes and Related Problems in Analysis." This was attended by 105 partici- pants representing 14 different countries. The conference, which is part of the "Emphasis Year" program traditionally supported by the Mathematics Department, was additionally supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, the National Security Agency, the Institute for Mathematics and Applications, as well as by supplemen- tary sources from Northwestern University. The purpose of...

The 1985 Seminar on Stochastic Processes was held at the University of Florida, Gainesville, in March. It was the fifth seminar in a continuing series of meetings which provide opportunities for researchers to discuss current work in stochastic processes in an informal atmosphere. Previous seminars were held at Northwestern University, Evanston and the University of Florida, Gainesville. The participants' enthusiasm and interest have resulted in stimulating and successful seminars. We thank them for it, and we also thank those participants who have permitted us to publish their research here....

Concentration inequalities, which express the fact that certain complicated random variables are almost constant, have proven of utmost importance in many areas of probability and statistics. This volume contains refined versions of these inequalities, and their relationship to many applications particularly in stochastic analysis. The broad range and the high quality of the contributions make this book highly attractive for graduates, postgraduates and researchers in the above areas.

During the of Fall 1991, The Centre de Recerca Matematica, a research institute sponsored by the Institut d'Estudis Catalans, devoted a quarter to the study of stochastic analysis. Prominent workers in this field visited the Center from all over the world for periods ranging from a few days to several weeks. To take advantage of the presence in Barcelona of so many special- ists in stochastic analysis, we organized a workshop on the subject in Sant Feliu de Guixols (Girona) that provided an opportunity for them to ex- change information and ideas about their current work. Topics discussed...

The articles in this collection are a sampling of some of the research presented during the conference “Stochastic Analysis and Related Topics”, held in May of 2015 at Purdue University in honor of the 60th birthday of Rodrigo Bañuelos. A wide variety of topics in probability theory is covered in these proceedings, including heat kernel estimates, Malliavin calculus, rough paths differential equations, Lévy processes, Brownian motion on manifolds, and spin glasses, among other topics.
