Marsa Matruh II : The Objects

Donald White
This volume of the report on the excavations at Marsa Matruh on Bates's Island, which is located on the seacoast at the north of Egypt's western desert, publishes the local and imported pottery, the crucibles and other evidence for metalworking, the organic finds (including ostrich egg shells), and the other discoveries made at the site. The pottery found in the excavations indicates that this small Late Bronze Age settlement had links to several cultures: Cyprus, the Aegean, Egypt, the coast of western Asia, and the local Marmarican people.

Ayioryitikait: The 1928 Excavations of Carl Blegen at a Neolithic to Early Helladic Settlement in Arcadia

Susan L. Petrakis
Ayioryitika, a large open-air settlement in Arcadia, in central Greece, was inhabited during the Neolithic and Early Bronze Age. It was excavated in 1928 by Carl Blegen under the auspices of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens, but the research was never published. The site is particularly important for its beautifully decorated Middle Neolithic pottery and for its figurines of human figures and animals. This volume gathers together the scattered and fragmentary evidence for the excavation and its finds. For the first time, the information from this large and important early...

Pseira VI : The Pseira Cemetery I. The Surface Survey

P. B. Betancourt; Costis Davaras; Philip P. Betancourt
Richard B. Seager excavated the Minoan cemetery on Pseira, a small island off the northeast coast of Crete, in 1907. This work, however, was never published. More recently, the Temple University excavations (1985-1994) under the direction of Philip P. Betancourt and Costis Davaras conducted an intensive surface survey of the cemetery area, cleaned and drew plans of all the visible tombs, and excavated tombs that had not been previously excavated. The results of these new excavations are published in two volumes. This volume, Pseira VI, covers the methodology that was employed for the...

Jeffrey Soles; Jeffrey S. Soles
Mochlos is a Minoan town set on a fine harbor at the eastern side of the Gulf of Mirabello, in northeast Crete. It was first inhabited during the Neolithic period, and it had an important Minoan settlement during most of the Bronze Age. Mochlos I, to be published in three volumes, presents the results of the excavations in the Neopalatial levels of the Artisans' Quarter and the farmhouse at Chalinomouri. The Artisans' Quarter consisted of a series of workshops with evidence for pottery manufacture, metalworking, and weaving. Chalinomouri, a semi-independent farmhouse with strong connections...
