An understanding of sediment sources and pathways make a contribution to solving environmental problems and maintaining biological diversity. Developments have occurred in the application of both direct monitoring and fingerprinting techniques and the application of new modelling strategies. This book brings together contributions from geomorphologists in monitoring, single or multitracer measurements and the development of modelling strategies to identify the relative significance of a number of potential sources. The book covers the use of tracers in all environments: aeolian, marine and...

A synthesis of the methodological and technological developments in terrain data acquisition and analysis is provided here through a combination of review chapters and research papers. The book also illustrates recent developments on how terrain can be used to answer geomorphological questions.

In recent years, considerable advances have been made in the understanding of fluvial processes at both the catchment/slope scale and the river/floodplain scale. There has also been an increase in interest in environmental change. Focusing on the links between fluvial processes and environmental change, this book brings together a wide range of temporal environmental change and describes how rivers have responded to them. In terms of spatial scales (small catchments to large river basins) it has a broad scope, and includes modelling studies, monitoring and palaeo-environmental studies.
