Lu Yin, alias Huang Ying,was a great female writer during the May Fourth Movement, an intellectual revolution and sociopolitical reform movement that occurred in China in 1919. Her pen name had the connotation of being a hermit. Lu Yin, Bing Xin and Phyllis Lin were feted as the Three Talented Women of Fuzhou. In addition, she and the other writers were recognised as 18 influential Chinese female writers in the Writing Women in Modern China published by Columbia University Press in 2003. Zhao Shuli, a member of the executive committee of the Chinese Writers Union and also served as the director of the Society of Chinese Authors, the president of the Society of Chinese Poets, and an editor of the journals Quyi (Performing Arts) and Renmin Wenxue (People's Literature). He was also appointed a representative to the Eighth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and a deputy in the first, second, and third sessions of the National People's Congress. Xiao Yemu (1918-1970) was born in Zhejiang Province. He once worked as an editor of the regional newspaper National Salvation and the former Guardian. He specializes in writing not only medium and short stories, but also essays and reportage. His works are unpretentious with clean language, and his stories seemingly mundane yet truly moving. His main works include Okra, Continuous Autumn Rain, Unforgettable Years, Along the Haihe River, Hand in Hand, and My wife and I. Zhang Ziping, born in 1893, graduated from Tokyo Imperial University in April 1922. He began writing in 1913 and published his novel The Water of the Yuetan River in January 1920. His representative work is the novel Alluvial Fossils. In 1934, he became chief editor of National Literature, a nationalistic literary publication where he created a large number of romantic novels, with an anti-feudal tendency, which simply the triangular or polygonal relationship between men and women.
