In this Book I find out how Community Development Councils (CDCs) influence the level of civic engagement and trust among women from different ethnic groups in Kabul, which, in turn, leads to the empowerment of women. The underlying assumption in this work is CDCs, which are the main components of the National Solidarity Program (NSP), lead to the economic, social and political empowerment of women since it promotes a social participation norm (i.e., civic engagement and network) which aims to build trust among women from the heterogeneous ethnicities in Afghanistan. NSP focuses on the fabric of community as the backdrop for women's participation and empowerment. Therefore, civic engagement and trust, as dimensions for social capital, have been operationalized in this study. In order to investigate the impact of CDC on women's level of civic engagement and Trust, qualitative strategy has been used.
