This book is targeting at audience who has basicwireless communication background and would like tolearn more about spectrum coordination problems incognitive radio networks. This book focuses on theproblem of efficiently sharing spectrum resources inwireless networks through the use of appropriatespectrum etiquette protocols and related coordinationalgorithms. The performance of the proposed class ofspectrum etiquette protocols is evaluated in variouswireless network scenarios and compared with simplerreactive interference avoidance schemes. Aftervalidating its utility for coordination betweenexisting wireless standards (such as IEEE802.11/WiFi, Bluetooth, and 802.16/WiMax), thespectrum etiquette protocol is extended to serve asthe foundation for a more complete adaptive wirelessnetwork where radio nodes may cooperate by forming orjoining autonomous ad hoc clusters with multi-hoprouting. A cognitive radio protocol stack is proposedfor this scenario. Validation results using acombination of ns-2 simulations and experiments onthe 20x20 ORBIT radio grid testbed are presented inthis book.
