Polluted soil pose a severe problem for both ecosystem health and land development and are a genuine hurdle in the sustainable development of the humanity. Because soil lies at the confluence of many natural systems, soil pollution can be spread to other parts of the natural environment. Groundwater, for instance, percolates through the soil and can carry the soil pollutants into streams, rivers, wells and drinking water. Hence, in view of the challenges pertaining to the soil contamination (especially the textile waste water related contamination), the results obtained in this study confirm the beneficial role of the phytoremediation strategy, especially by using the locally available herbaceous plant species for cleaning the contaminated site.
