Chickpea is the third most important pulse crop in the world after french bean and field peas. The poor productivity of chickpea is mainly instigated by different causative factors. Among these, weed management is one of the pivotal aspects of the crop production particularly in pulses. The early emergence and fast growth of the weeds lead to severe crop-weed competition for light, moisture, nutrients and space, which culminates in heavy reduction in growth and yield of chickpea and lessens the profitability. Yet herbicides application is only the option to reduce the flushes of weeds during crop growth period. However, the herbicides absorption and their translocation are also depends on moisture availability in the soil particularly arid region of Rajasthan (India). The book contained various chapters with recent reference to justify the research aspects. The data are presented in tabular form as well as graphical depictions. The text in the book is too simple and sophisticated to understand the basics of weed management in chickpea. The book may prove usefulness in the hand of students, teachers, researchers and extension workers.
