An economic analysis of Small onion study was taken up in the Perambalur district of Tamil Nadu. The net income was Rs.105928.92 per ha. Cost of production per kg was Rs.7.49 and the net return per kg was Rs. 7.62.The total post-harvest losses in small onion cultivation were 7.63 Kg./Q.The effect of climate changes in small onion production was positively influenced by the rain fall and maximum temperature. Planting material, nitrogen, phosphorus, potash, plant protection and irrigation contributed significant influence on yield of small onion. Mean technical efficiency of small onion cultivation was 96.20 per cent in Constant Returns To Scale and 97.10 in Variable Returns To Scale. Mean scale efficiency efficiency of aggregatum onion was 96.70. Marketing channel I was the efficient marketing channel which was due to better pricing mechanism, lesser price spread due to absence of intermediaries and better regulation. From the ARIMA (2,1,2) model, the forecasted value was high during the month of September with Rs. 3681.11 per quintal followed by the months of October and November.The major production constraints identified were non-availability of labour and higher wage rate.
