Many companies try to reduce their costs while maintaining the same quality of products. Therefore low-cost producing countries seem to be in high demand, Poland which is characterized as an emerging market, is one of them. For example, majority of wooden parts sold in IKEA stores are produced in Poland. Yet earlier research indicates that Poland has been developing rapidly comparing to other emerging countries in Eastern Europe. There have been many ongoing changes in the environment that most likely will affect the competitive advantage that the Polish subcontractors posses and can make them lose its customers in favor of markets able to produce at lower costs. The main research problem of the work is to investigate how Polish subcontractors can cope with environmental changes to sustain competitive advantage. To be able to solve the above problem an environmental analysis of Poland has been conducted. The changes are presented from subcontractors perspective and recommendation how to cope with them is given. The analysis is a good starting point for researchers and students sharing interest in that topic as well as anyone willing to enhance their understanding of the market.
