We're glad to be publishing our fourth book in the Pixels and Bristles(r) series, this one based on a Penn State Alumni Association trip to Cuba in March 2013. We went to Cuba with some expectations, largely based on what we knew about China and how it was evolving from a socialist country to a capitalist one, which is beginning to show in Cuba, and on a short visit to another island in the Caribbean, Puerto Rico. We have sections devoted to the arts and architecture, people, Hemingway, a commune, a farmers' market and finally the catch-all miscellaneous-and not in alphabetical order. We captioned many of the paintings and photographs to provide more information, although we tried not to go overboard when the content was obvious. What can you say about the photograph of a smiling woman or the painting of someone playing a guitar? Many of the photographs were shot as high dynamic range. The photographer has programmed his Nikon to take three exposures. He processed them in Nik Efex Pro 2 and added a filter he modified. The painter chose water color for most of her renditions, although she did paint some on her iPad and did manipulate all in Photoshop. What she did not get to do because of time constraints was paint on her iPad while on the scene. Would that be iPlein Aire? On that note, please continu
