Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disorder. If left untreated, it can lead to the destruction of both soft and mineralized tissues that constitute the periodontium. Although periodontitis is under control because of the implementation of conventional treatment modalities, regenerating damaged periodontal tissues remains a major challenge because of the complex periodontium structure. And for the structural regeneration, material has been a very crucial factor .With the global aging population, it is extremely important to find novel biomaterials, to aid in the reestablishment of the health and function of distinct periodontal tissues. The most widely studied biomaterials (viz bone graft material, barrier membrane, and growth or differentiation factors) and biomimetic approaches are done to obtain optimal tissue regeneration by making the environment almost similar to that of the extracellular matrix.
