This book attempts to present understandings of community behaviour affecting natural resources based on research conducted by the author in the Green Corridor a forest landscape of the highest global conservation importance in Thua Thien Hue province of Vietnam. Under an interdisciplinary approach, community behaviour, including livelihood-based decisions, practices, and actions, is recognised as the interface between ecosystem and social system, in which each behaviour is motivated or influenced by different ecological and social factors. The research was conducted in Thuong Nhat, a commune situated in the Green Corridor, through a three step participatory social assessment: step 1: assessing the situation to understand ecological and social contexts of the community and local conservation problems; step 2: identifying critical behaviours; and step 3: identifying key influential factors of critical behaviours. Based on such findings, the research has proposed a framework comprising specific actions, though are relevant to change those critical behaviour of Thuong Nhat s community towards sustainable resource use and conservation.
