El presente trabajo fue originalmente una tesis de grado de la Licenciatura en Economia de la Universidad Nacional del Sur. El proposito del mismo es estudiar los patrones de gasto en salud a nivel mundial, asi como la relacion existente entre el nivel de gasto y los resultados en salud. La conclusion obtenida es que el gasto en salud puede ser considerado como una inversion a futuro cuyo rendimiento consiste en elevar el status de salud poblacional.
