This book describes the author's journey into widowhood and uses critical reflection to make sense of the turbulent emotions the death of a spouse can bring. This account is not a 'how to' book. It is in no way intended to suggest a right or a wrong way to grieve. It is perhaps self-indulgent but it was something that the author felt she needed to do to try and make sense of the wildly contrasting emotions she experienced. It is simply a 'warts 'n' all' account of what happened to her before, during and after her husband's death. What it may do is highlight that no death of a loved-one, no matter how expected or inevitable; is without potentially devastating consequences which leaves the bereaved struggling to find any way forward.
