This book covers exhaustive information on population ecology and the life cycle of Pistia stratiotes L. in the watercourses of Giza province; Egypt. The rhizofilteration and accumulation potentials of heavy metals were caculated to determine the ability of Pistia to be as a bioindicator and biomonitor. Nutrient in water, shoot and root of the plant populations were measured to show the ability of Pistia to remove excess nutrient and pollutants. A growth numerical model was formulated to determine the growth dynamics of P. stratiotes under natural conditions in Egypt, based on fixed carbon gain and loss (photosynthesis, respiration, mortality, and translocation of materials from shoots to roots) using first order differential equations. This book will be helpful in applications of management of invasive aquatic plants, phytoremediation, biomonitoring and ecological modelling of flaoting plants.
