Intercultural face to face communication could be tricky as people from different cultures have different approaches to communication, meeting styles, and etiquette. Yet, these differences might be negotiated by gestures, body language, and facial expressions. In emails, however, this luxury is not available. Emails may loss a lot of potentials in cultural translations, and might be a source of feud, misunderstanding, and possibly confusion. As an asynchronous (different place, different time) method of communication, the language of emails is the only happenstance between communicators. Therefore, intercultural stylistic and contextual differences can be a source of dispute, as messages written by non native speakers can be viewed unfavorably by the natives and vice versa. Despite the growing literature in Computer-mediated communication (CMC) and workplace email communication, there are few attempts that focus on workplace emails from a stylistic contextual perspective. this study attempts to fill in that gap. Overall, this study scrutinizes how employees and employers construct their professional emails in their internal and external business communication.
