Baptism an Alternative View. by Milton Hayward The author, an Australian and a member of the Anglican (Episcopalian) Communion for 60 years finds both the Covenantal (Infant baptism) tradition and the Anabaptist (believers immersion) tradition unconvincing. This short work suggests that the transitional nature of the Acts of the Apostles has not been given due consideration by either tradition and as a consequence, besides the New Birth, Christianity has no initiation rite. The author also contends that the principal meaning of the word "baptize" in the theology of the New Testament is "transformation" and has nothing to do with water or the method of its application. This small contribution is offered to the wider community of faith in the hope that it may be of some assistance to those struggling with or seeking to understand the subject.
