The present book deals with ethnobotanical and pharmacognostical studies on some medicinal plants of India. Ethnobotany a distinct branch of natural science covers various aspects such as anthropology, archaeology, botany, ecology, economics, medicine, religious and cultural disciplines. Several tribes of Rajasthan use the traditional system of medicine. About 500 tribal communities representing 7.76 per cent of the total population of the country are still using traditional medicines. Around 70 per cent of India s medicinal plants are found in tropical areas. A large number of medicinally important tree species are present on Aravalli hill range and other areas including less hospitable North West Rajasthan. An attempt has been made to document medicinal plants of the region having ethnobotanical uses. Detailed ethnobotanical and pharmacognostical studies are presented on some medicinal plants of tropical India. The book is well illustrated and provides valuable information for researchers , teachers and students of all disciplines.
