Violence against women (VAW) rights , have been a predominant feature of all known societies, whether they are extinct or existing. VAW takes its occurrence in many ways , i.e., abusive language, to extreme, i.e., beating, wounding, and killing, etc.Understanding violence against women is as complex as its process. As a perusal of literature shows that most of the explanations were contextually and culturally biased, this review attempts to analyze the issue of violence against women using theories applicable within the Pakistani context.Womens status in Pakistan is not conspicuous in any discipline of the life. Gender violence is pervasive and persistent, cutting across divisions of class, caste, age and community. Gender based violence is perpetrated at many different levels, i.e. at the family, community and state levels, and in many different forms. The fear of violence perpetuates a state of insecurity; a feeling of insecurity undermines a womans confidence, besides affecting her access to resources and overall quality of life. Women have specific problems, which must be catered for. The present study was conducted through random sampling by 15 working women.
