This is a comparative study done over five years at a tertiary care hospital. The standard techniques of open and closed haemorrhoidectomy were done in randomly selected patients in elective settings. All the surgeries were performed or supervised directly by consultant surgeons. Post-operatively, the results were gauged in terms of pain, wound healing and infections. Return to normal activity was also monitored in out-patients setting.
