When I first became single I looked for a book that would help me transition to life on my own. I couldn't find one, so I decided to write my own and share it with other women starting down the same path. Starting over in middle-age can be daunting. Facing the future alone after decades of partnered living and planning can be overwhelming. We are faced with so many choices. Some easy, some difficult, and many we had never considered. Suddenly, at middle-age, we are free to choose to become more of who we really are, self-confident, content, and excited about all that life has to offer. The alternative is to do nothing. Too often we wait and hope that life will get better on its own. When that choice fails us, lets us down, we sink into despair and do whatever it takes to avoid what our hearts tell us, preferring instead to safely get through to the end of what remains of life. Tragic. This book, based on my own mid-life awakening, is my way to encourage others to explore how to best live their second half of life to the fullest and to enable them to finally be who they are. I'm not trying to give definitive answers for everyone; I am hoping, instead, that my words will awaken you to your own potential, your own path. I want to help you find the confidence and belief that you can make this journey and that it will be well worth the effort. Change is inevitable within our lives so I propose that we prepare to embrace it and make it a change that serves us.
