The title "The Role of the Communists in Nellore District during the Pre and Post Independent era" instead of Communist Party and its policies in Nellore district is deliberately chosen because the Communist Party in Nellore District in particular that of in Andhra Pradesh in general is more than a political party. Its historical origin and growth are blended with the nationalist movement in the district. It is a movement, because the work of the Communist Party is not confined to political activities only. Historically speaking, Communist Party's activities in the state and the district spread to political, social, economic, ideological, cultural and literary fields.
