The concept of Urban Health is as important as rural and tribal health. In broadest sense urban health refers to the study of the health of urban populations. Urban Health considers inquiry to two principal aspects: the description of the health of urban populations, and an understanding of the determinants of population health in cities. It is confined to cleanliness, sanitation, water sewage system etc. It is also the science and art of preventing disease prolonging life and promoting health and efficiency through organized community effort. The main concern of the urban health is to root out, both communicable and non-communicable diseases by providing clean drinking water, better housing, basic health facilities and mass scale administration of vaccines and drugs, with the help of local, state, and central government. The urban health has a very wide scope because it offers a synthesis by bringing together work of medical scientists, geographers, social scientists, demographers, urban planners, on problems having a bearing on urban health from a wider perspective. Managing urban health believes critical importance to achieve better health outcomes in the India.

Dr. Satish Jadhav has obtained his PhD degree in Medical Geography in 2014. He completed a project of UGC, Pune and working on another sanctioned by ICSSR, New Delhi in the field of Public Health. He is the author of several articles published in reputed journals and is a member of different national/international associations.
