The purpose of this study was to find out Relationship of serum albumin with C-reactive protein and Cardiovascular disease in patients of Chronic kidney disease in accordance with KDQOI guidlines. For this purpose, 50 patients were selected attending nephrology Clinic and General Medicine wards at Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College, AMU, Aligarh. This was a prospective case control study. It was found that Serum albumin and C-reactive Protein levels positively correlated with GFR while Serum albumin negatively correlated with CRP. Cardiovascular disease was seen to be significantly associated with low levels of GFR. The Centers for Disease Control and the American Heart Association has recommended that patients at intermediate risk of coronary heart disease might benefit from measurement of CRP. Even though the high prevalence of chronic inflammation and its link to poor outcome in CKD are not news any more, many clinicians and investigators remain interested in research about inflammatory markers in kidney disease.
