This is a study of the development of Egyptian foreign policy, in particular the struggle for Syria among the regional great powers of the day, Egypt, Mitanni and Hatte, largely based on the Armana letters and the Hittite archival material discovered by archaeology over the last century. The study also discusses the connections that can be developed from the data, relating to Egyptian political history. A survey of the archaeology of Western Asian in the Amarna age from J.B. Hennessey is included, as well as a number of translations of relevant Hittite and Akkadian documents.

Originally published in two volumes in 1908 and 1909, the present work remains the standard edition of the poetical works of Giles Fletcher and his brother Phineas Fletcher. The first volume contains all the extant poems of Giles Fletcher and the undisputed poetical works of Phineas published before 1633. The second volume includes the poems, original or translated, of Phineas Fletcher which appeared in or after that year.

This volume represents the author's assessment of a number of key issues relating to the Amarna Period in Egypt. The study is the result of a lifetime of interest in the Amarna Period and its aftermath. The book is divided into an introductory chapter, four chapters of analysis and a conclusion. An appendix adds new interpretations on comparative material.
