This book covers 20 years of Roger McGough's poetic career. It investigates the narrative dimensions of his poetry, and undertakes a critical dialogue with narratological concepts and moves the field of their application from fiction to poetry. It tries to widen the scope of application for narratology and enrich it with the the technical possibilities of a genre other than the fictional. Although this study appears to adopt a structuralist approach, it reincorporates interpretation into its narratively textual typology. The first chapters categorizes and analyzes narrative titles such as intertextual, actorial, thematic, rhematic, spatial and temporal titles. The second chapter focuses on the different ways of narrative beginnings, while the third investigates the manifestations of cinematic and pictorial narration in McGough's poetry. The fourth chapter approaches McGoughian heterodiegetic narratives with respect to ulterior, immediate, and continuous narration, whereas the fifth highlights different techniques in McGoughian homodiegetic narratives such as inclusive, semi-inclusive and exclusive narrative collectivity, and on-air narration.
